Before free forging, the forging shop should carefully check whether the bolts, nuts, pins, etc. of each fastening connection part are loose or broken, and whether there are cracks in the combination of anvil block, hammer head, hammer rod and inclined wedge before starting forging hammer. If any problems are found, they should be solved in time, and check the lubrication and oil feeding situation. The air hammer control handle should be placed in a blank position, and the positioning pin is inserted, and then can start, and empty operation for 3 ~ 5 minutes. The steam air free forging hammer should exclude condensate water in the cylinder before starting, and the exhaust valve should be fully opened before work, and then slightly open the intake valve, so that steam through the gas pipe system to preheat the air valve and then slowly open the intake valve, and make the piston empty several times.

Forgings factory in the winter to preheat the hammer rod, hammer and anvil block, preheating temperature is 100 ~ 150℃. After the forging hammer is started, it is necessary to concentrate on the operation according to the instructions of the palm fitter and the requirements of the operation, and pay attention to the observation at any time. If irregular noise or abnormal phenomena such as cylinder head leakage are found, the machine should be stopped immediately for maintenance. Avoid eccentric forging, air strike or heavy strike on the lower temperature, thinner billet, at any time to remove the oxide skin on the anvil, so as not to splash out wounding or damage the anvil surface. When measuring the size of the workpiece or changing the tool, the operator should take his foot off the pedal to avoid misstepping.

After the forging work is finished, the hammer head should be put down smoothly, the inlet and exhaust valves should be closed, the air hammer will open the switch, and the shift work should be done well.
