Maintenance of mechanical forgings and methods of repairing defects




First, the importance of flange forging maintenance:

Flanges are used when connecting pipes in our large industrial buildings. Mechanical forging flanges are not common in our daily life, they are mainly used to connect industrial pipes. Different flange materials provide different connection methods. Generally, flanges are quite convenient to use. They can withstand high pressure and have a tight bonding effect. Different classifications can meet different connection requirements, which increases our shopping space and provides convenient operating conditions for management.

We should also know that although flanges can provide us with convenient pipe connection conditions, their daily maintenance and maintenance is also quite important, as long-term use can lead to aging problems. I This will present different hazards to our gas managers, such as leaks or leaks. Therefore, we continue to repair and maintain the flange, and often check its use, in order to obtain the best use results, increase the use efficiency of the flange, for our industrial production management to provide safety and convenient conditions.



During maintenance, we should know the sealing factor of the flange. There are many factors affecting flange sealing. The more common problems are problems with the connecting parts, such as screw tightening force, aging of the seal gasket and the stiffness operating conditions of the flange. These are the things we should pay attention to during maintenance. For butt welding flanges and high pressure flanges, we should use this method during maintenance. The sealing stability of butt - welded flange is high, but the compression resistance is poor. High pressure flange can provide us with stronger pressure capacity, we will continue to repair it.



Two, mechanical forging defects dressing method:



1, bending deformation:



Calibration can be done by heating to the cutting temperature of the forging or by using a press or friction press in a cold state.



2. Overheating:



The overheated forgings can be trimmed by normalizing treatment.



3, forging hardness is not qualified:



If the hardness is too high, it can be trimmed by tempering again. When the hardness is too low, it can be quenched again.



4, for overburning, quenching crack, serious folding, serious size unqualified mechanical forgings, should be regarded as irreparable forgings, scrap treatment, do not continue to repair.



5. Burr, split and fold:



Dressing is done by grinding wheel, wind shovel or rotary file grinding.



6, for not full part is not too serious or small pits



It may be re-forged in a new die or repaired by repair welding (fusing).



7. For forgings with insufficient forging:



It can be finished by premachining in the machine shop. It is better not to die again for this underwrought part. Because this may be due to the newly produced oxide skin pressed into the forging and become unrepairable waste. Sometimes it can be trimmed by grinding. For unimportant forgings, it can be reheated once, so that the excess metal into oxide skin to trim, and finally increase the shot blasting treatment.



8. Error error:



The dressing method for the error is to take a second repair forging. The error is serious and can not be trimmed. When the error of mechanical forging is not serious, it can also be trimmed by grinding.
