Put forward their own views.

The economic downturn forced the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry

Liu Shijin, former deputy director of the Development Research Center of The State Council, believes that the foundation of the entire national economy, especially the competitiveness of the foundation is still the manufacturing industry.

'The slowdown of the Chinese economy is a transition reassessment,' he said. 'It is a transition from the past high growth rate of about 10 percent to a moderate growth platform. It is a switch between two different platforms.' For the past six years, China's economy has been in the process of transition, and this process has not been completed, so there has been downward pressure.

In his view, the economic downturn brings increased competition, followed by differentiation, and finally transformation and upgrading. The recent divergence of enterprises, industries and regions is a very striking feature of the Chinese economy. As a result, some good companies have gradually come out, "so we still need to follow the trend, rather than block the process."

In this process, Liu Shijin suggested that enterprises should do something and not do something, concentrate on what they are best at, improve their professional level, in order to realize the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry.

Qu Xianming, a member of the National Manufacturing Power Strategy Advisory Committee and the main author of Made in China 2025, naturally has a deep sense of how this vision can be realized. His proposed path is: intelligent manufacturing and industrial strong base.

Qu Xianming elaborated that intelligent manufacturing is the main direction of Made in China 2025, is the core of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial reform. He believes that the development of the new generation of information technology and the urgent needs of China's manufacturing industry transformation and upgrading provide a very important means for Chinese manufacturing, and this opportunity needs to be seized.

In his opinion, intelligent manufacturing will revolutionize the country's manufacturing industry, bringing innovation in products and manufacturing technology.

In addition, he also believes that because of too much debt in the industrial base, China's manufacturing from big to strong, to become quality manufacturing rather than inferior manufacturing, the key is to solve the basic parts, materials and technology problems. Only when this link of industrial base is truly solved, "made in China can have hope."

Around these difficulties and vitality in Chinese manufacturing, the experts and enterprise representatives at the meeting also carried out specific discussions on the transformation difficulties and innovation of the manufacturing industry, the search for new industrial air outlet, the confidence, policies and prospects of the development of the manufacturing industry, hoping to find a way to break the market for Chinese manufacturing enterprises and even the whole manufacturing industry. For example, Song Hua, deputy dean of the Business School of Renmin University of China, proposed that the strategic transformation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises lies in supply chain innovation.
